(My boyfriend walks up behind me and pokes me with a leaf.)

Me: “What are you doing?!”

Boyfriend: “Surprising you.”

Me: “How?”

Boyfriend: “You’d never expect to be poked with a leaf. So it’s a surprise!”

Me: “Unless I was expecting the unexpected, and because it was unexpected, I was expecting it.”

(There is a long pause while he contemplates the paradox.)

Boyfriend: “Only you would say something like that.”
