(My girlfriend was rather sheltered growing up, so quite frequently she embarrasses herself by saying things without knowing it. A friend is driving us back to college from a restaurant we had dinner at.)

Girlfriend: “I love balls. I used to have over a hundred of them when I was younger.”

(I chuckle silently.)

Friend: “Oh really?” *laughs*

Girlfriend: *realizing how we’ve taken it* “No, I mean bouncy balls!”

(I’m trying not to laugh.)

Girlfriend: *exasperated* “I mean the ones you play with!”

(Me and my friend are both laughing at this point.)

Girlfriend: “They were all different colors, but the blue ball was my favorite.”
