Love Through A Lens
Me: “Seriously, I love you so, so much.”
Boyfriend: “Breaking into corny boyfriend mode, then, are we?”
Me: “Sure!”
(I grab my guitar and begin strumming romantically as I talk.)
Me: “My darling, you are the sun in my sky, the smile on my face, the… operating system on my computer?”
Boyfriend: “Aw!”
Me: “You are the drivers for my USB devices. Without you, my life would be a mess. You are the closing curly brace to my Java expressions.”
Boyfriend: “And you are like the sensor on my Nikon D800, ranked first even above medium format cameras, like the SSD in my laptop quietly making every day less of a struggle.”
Me: “And you, my love, are like my 30mm f/2 pancake lens.”
(I never take that lens off; it’s my favourite and I’ve been obsessed with it since I bought it.)
Boyfriend: “Aw! You’re too kind!”
Me: “Oh, god, we are such geeks.”
Boyfriend: “You know what’s geekiest about it?”
Me: “What?”
Boyfriend: “That we understood each other.”
