Sheldon Cooper dating Amy Farrah-Fowler, Part 2

(I am also the author of Sheldon Cooper dating Amy Farrah-Fowler. We are having a conversation about my blue eyes, which happen to be a recessive trait. My boyfriend’s eyes are brown.)

Boyfriend: “I think my parents might both be carriers for the trait, since they have brown eyes. But my sister’s are blue, which means I have a 50% chance of being a carrier myself.”

Me: “So, if you do happen to be a carrier, our kids would have a 50% chance of having blue eyes. Hey, wouldn’t it be interesting to see if we have a child with blue eyes? We could see if they subconsciously selects a blue-eyed mate, so they’d be sure that their kids are theirs, because they’d all have blue eyes as proof.”

Boyfriend: “Assuming that certainty of paternity was the true evolved purpose for such a selection. But what if we have a son and he turns out to be gay, or incapable of producing children?”

Me: “Then, we’d discontinue the experiment. I’m not the type of person to force their child to be straight just for the purpose of an experiment. Besides, the sample size of one and the fact that he was our child would probably confound the data.”

Boyfriend: *grinning* “I love being us!”
